IBM CD Description:
The CD (Certified Application Developer) certification from IBM certification is an advanced level certification. This certification was started in 2001, and was last updated in 2005.

A person with the CD IBM Certification (Certified Application Developer) has the advanced information and expert level understanding for CD (Certified Application Developer) certified professionals that can create applications that run on any of the DB2 platforms: Linux, UNIX (including AIX, HP-UX, and Sun Solaris), and Windows, z/OS, s/390, and iseries. This knowledge will include but will not be limited to all common programming tasks as well as strong skills in one or more of the specialty areas: embedded SQL programming, ODBC/CLI programming, or Java programming.

IBM CD Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites in the CD certification. However, for the CD certification you have to know all the basics of the certification. In addition, to do the CD exams and you are recommended to do the IBM Training course. Alternatively you can do the CD study guides or CD practice exams from vendors like Testking.com.

IBM CD Exams:
You need to do the IBM exam(s) required to earn CD certification. These can be one or two exams:

The single exam that is required is the IBM 000-256 Application Development with IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software V6.0 exam.

OR

The two exams are the IBM 000-700 DB2 UDB V8.1 Family Fundamentals exam and the IBM 000-703 DB2 UDB V8.1 Family Application Development exam.

IBM CD Recertification
The certification is now valid for only a few years, to recertify you must pass the current CD exams.
